25, 2010 CORNUCOPIA, A FEAST OF THE ARTS | Benefit for Well in the Desert | 11/14/10
(Palm Springs, CA)—October 25, 2010— Michael H. Lord Gallery and OperaArts will present Cornucopia: A Feast of the Arts to benefit WELL in the Desert on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event will feature a stellar line up of musical performances emceed by Stewart Gordon, Past President of the Virginia Waring Piano Competition. Highlights will include numbers by Trina Parks, the first African American to star in a James Bond movie, accompanied by cellist Lauren Posey and pianist Lauren Fraley; Jessie Massoudi, opera singer from the University of Redlands; Alison King, 2nd place winner of this year’s McCallum Theatre Open Call; and pianist Giorgi Latsabidze. A $25 minimum donation is suggested for the elegant afternoon of camaraderie surrounded by great music and fine art.

Proceeds will go to WELL in the Desert, a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides daily nutritious hot meals, emergency food assistance, weekly supplemental food distribution and a wide array of social services through case management and advocacy to those affected by poverty, including the working poor, the homeless, seniors, the handicapped and others in need throughout the western end of the Coachella Valley. Their mission fuels programs for poverty prevention, direct services for poverty intervention, and an organized effort to advocate for the poor.
